"A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety." ~Ansel Adams

Flowers

What can I say, I like flowers! Stereotypical girl I guess.

  1. I saw these on your blog. Very pretty. How did you do the black background?

  2. I draped a black sheet behind them at an angle, and for the backlit ones I positioned them on a chair right in front of a window with the shades cracked only slightly open. I stood so that the light was shining into the back of the daisy but the angle of my camera caught the black cloth behind it. Then I turned all the lights off so the only light was coming from the mostly closed-shaded window and set the shutter speed to about 15 seconds. It was very complicated and took a lot of experimenting. The background on the pink daisy was a mirror and I was in a bathroom with all the lights off and a long exposure.
